Welcome to BikeRaleigh

The goal of BikeRaleigh is to make bicycling safer, more comfortable, and more convenient for people of all ages and abilities. BikeRaleigh’s strategy includes system planning, facility design, education, outreach, and encouragement. BikeRaleigh is the bicycle program under the City of Raleigh’s Office of Transportation Planning, also known as RaleighMoves.

League Cycling Instructors (LCIs) are certified to teach the Smart Cycling classes using the League of American Bicyclist (LAB) curriculum. Their goal is to help people feel more secure about getting on a bike, to create a mindset that bikes are treated as a vehicle, and to ensure that people on bicycles know how to ride safely and legally. LCIs are members of the LAB and have completed an intense 3-day seminar training. LAB certified instructors are active within the bicycling community and are covered by the LAB liability insurance. Raleigh is hosting a LCI Seminar March 26 - 28, 2020 at the Walnut Creek Wetland Center. Register for the seminar here.

GoRaleigh will be offering several scholarships to the Raleigh LCI Seminar for active and experienced bicyclists in the community. The scholarship will cover part of the cost of the LCI Seminar ($350). No travel costs, late fees, or other costs will be covered. A successful applicant will be required to lead/assist with one Bike to Work Day Pit Stop or a Smart Cycling Class within one year of completing the LCI Seminar. Scholarship applications will be open when details are finalized.
