Overview of Events

Bike To School Day

Bike to School Day is a national event held annually at schools and communities across the country. Bike to School Day events are a fun way to bring communities together to promote bicycle safety and encourage physical activity for elementary and middle school students.

Capital City Bike Ride

The Capital City Bike Ride is our signature kickoff event for Bike Month! Join city staff, elected officials, and fellow Raleighites for a casual morning ride through downtown Raleigh. This year we will be highlighting Citrix Cycle and some of our new downtown bike lanes. Register in advance here.

Time: 8 am to 9 am

Marbles Kid's Bike Rodeo

Bring your kid's bike, trike and helmet and get them rolling and ready for summer! Hosted by the Marbles in partnership with RPD’s Southeast District Community squad and local cycling advocacy group Oaks and Spokes, this event helps kids learn about bike safety and practice their riding skills through an obstacle course. Other activities include a Bike Bling Make Shop, Bike Swap, Helmet fittings, and maintenance checks. More information here.

Bike To Work Day

Biking can be a fun, healthy, and scenic way to get to work. Try it for the first time or the hundredth time on National Bike to Work Day, Friday, May 17th! Stop by a sponsored pit stop or host your own pit stop? View the Bike to Work Day toolkit here, and register your pit stop here

Family Picnic Ride - CANCELED

PLEASE NOT THAT THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED

Grab a blanket, some food, and your family and join us for this greenway ride to the Dix Picnic in the Park event. Enjoy your picnic lunch while listening to music and playing games at Raleigh's central park. Beer and wine are permitted.

City of Raleigh History Ride

Hosted by the City of Raleigh Museum, this downtown bike ride is an educational journey into the past. Meet at One Exchange Plaza across from the museum. Citrix Cycle sponsors this by providing bicycles as needed.

Spring Festival

Oaks and Spokes, Raleigh's bicycling non-profit and advocacy group, is holding their sixth annual festival which celebrates the growing community of people who bike in Raleigh. For more information about this year's festivities, visit oaksandspokes.com

May the 4th Be With you Greenway Tour

Join Raleigh Brewing Company as they kick off National Bike Month for a free, celebratory, family-friendly greenway ride and after party social at Raleigh Brewing Company! They will be offering 12 and 20 mile rides led by members of Oaks & Spokes and friends of Bike MS. All cyclists, friends and family who are interested in getting involved in cycling are welcome! Not able to cycle that day? Come hang out with O&S and Bike MS at Raleigh Brewing Company while folks are riding. Register in advance here.

The Victory Ride

Victory Ride to Cure Cancer is a one-day charity cycling event set in the beautiful rolling hills of the greater Raleigh, N.C., area. The Ride will start and end on NC State University's Centennial Campus, near downtown Raleigh. he 2019 Victory Ride is your opportunity to be part of something big. Join them as tget go the distance in the fight against cancer, united in making a difference. 100% of rider-raised funds benefits cancer research. More information on the Victory Ride here.

National Bike Challenge

The 2019 National Bike Challenge is a free, nationwide event that unites thousands of new and existing bicyclists across the country in friendly competition designed to celebrate and encourage biking. From May 1st - September 30th, registered individuals and social teams can compete for free throughout the challenge with a chance to win some great prizes.
