Ride Report

BikeRaleigh is partnering with Ride Report to collect anonymous bicycle trip data to help guide decisions about how to improve Raleigh’s bikeway network. To do this, we need your help! All you have to do is download the mobile app, create an account, and ride like you usually would! The mobile app automatically detects when you start and end bicycle trips, and you’ll also have the option to rate each ride as “great” or “not so great”. To learn more and download the app, go to: https://ride.report/.

Watch for Me NC

The City of Raleigh is a Watch for Me NC partner community. Watch for Me NC is a statewide campaign that seeks to improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists through public education and police enforcement. The campaign focuses on reducing the number of bicyclists and pedestrians involved in crashes with motor vehicles that result in fatalities or serious injuries. For more information, go to: http://www.watchformenc.org/.

Bicycle Benefits

Bicycle Benefits is a national program that encourages bicycling to local businesses. Bicyclists can purchase a $5 helmet sticker to get discounts at participating businesses. The business members benefit from the program by seeing increased traffic and support from the bicycling community. For more information, go to: http://www.bicyclebenefits.org./#/cities/24. Contact bikeraleigh at raleighnc.gov if your business might be interested in participating.

Bicycle and Pedestrian Counts

The Office of Transportation Planning is developing a map to display bicyclist and pedestrian volumes at a number of intersections across Raleigh. Stay tuned for more details.

Bicycle Parking

BikeRaleigh installed bike parking at 55 locations in 2016, including five BikeRaleigh-branded racks and three bike corrals. We’re working on identifying more locations for bike parking installation in 2017, and we hope to launch a program to provide grants to fund the purchase and installation of bike parking on private property where nearby public bike parking isn’t available. Stay tuned for more details.

Bicycle Friendly Community and Bicycle Friendly Business

The League of American Bicyclists’ Bicycle Friendly America program recognizes the efforts of states, communities, universities, and businesses to improve their bicycle-friendliness. For more information and to find out how you can apply, go to: http://bikeleague.org/bfa.

Lighten Up, Raleigh / Tune Up, Raleigh

In previous years, BikeRaleigh has partnered with local bike shops to provide discounts for bike light purchases in the fall and bike tune-ups in the spring. If you’re interested in having your bike shop participate in the future, please get in touch with us at bikeraleigh at raleighnc.gov.
